Name: Kevin T. Hanney
DOB: 12/30/69    Age: 29
Occupation: Investment Professional
Home: Harrison, NY

Kevin T. Hanney was born and raised on Long Island, a region of New York State. From ages 11 to 13 he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 554 in Oakdale, NY. It was here where he had his first opportunities to camp, hike, and learn to appreciate the outdoors. Soon, though, high school athletics supplanted most of the free time he devoted to his endeavors as a Scout, and the outdoor activities he enjoyed so much. They faded into the background and remained there until only recently.

After graduating from Connetquot High School in 1988, he attended the University of Southern California briefly, then Suffolk Community College where he earned an A.A. in Liberal Arts and graduated with Highest Distinction. He transferred to Cornell University to study Agricultural and Biological Engineering in 1991, but took an indefinite leave of absence prior to completing his degree in order to resolve matters at home that arose while a student there.

Since 1994, Mr. Hanney has been a member of the New York and Connecticut investment communities. Over the last 4 years, he worked in product development/management and marketing capacities for various sub partners of PIMCO Advisors, LP (NYSE- PA). He is a licensed General Securities Principal and just recently received a passing grade on the Level 1 Examination of the Association for Investment Management and Research's Chartered Financial Analyst Candidate Program. He placed his career on hold to plan and complete the Trek, but will most likely return to Wall Street some time in the Year 2000.

By no means an accomplished outdoorsman, Mr. Hanney considers himself someone of average physical condition with a strong desire to help other people in a big way. Through proper planning and help from others who are knowledgeable with regard to trekking, he expects to have a most enjoyable and rewarding walk through the hills of Nepal. He hopes that his somewhat dramatic example might inspire others to take action in some form to volunteer their time and resources to charitable causes. His family and friends have been a tremendous support throughout the various stages of planning and training for the Trek, and he credits them as his primary source of strength and drive.

He currently makes his home in Harrison, NY.
