1999 Everest Trek for Diabetes
Audio Clips
I had a tape recorder with me up until Namche, where I gave it to one of the workers at the Khumbu Lodge. I was smart enough to lock myself out of my room there. He was able to get the door open without cutting the lock. At that point, we were very low on cash, and replacing the lock would have strained finances further. I figured he could find a use for the recorder and blank cassettes, plus I wouldn't have to carry them anymore. I think we both made out well on the deal.
